Traditional Spanish Solo Guitarist
Jules has been playing guitar since the age of thirteen. In his formative years of learning to play, he was especially drawn to the fingerpicking skills of Nick Drake, alongside blues and rock guitarists Peter Green and Pete Townshend. His passion for Spanish guitar developed from listening to Latin-jazz and Flamenco, and in his early twenties he began studying the playing styles of Bossa Nova, Gypsy jazz, the classical works of Barrios Mangoré, and Flamenco. A move to Andalucía, Spain, the birthplace and heartland of Flamenco, presented him with the opportunity to immerse himself in this most dynamic and intricate style of playing. He studied the styles and techniques of the great artists including Paco de Lucia, Pepe Habichuela, Paco Pena, Vincente Amigo and many more, and continues to be inspired by established and upcoming artists from the region of Andalucía and beyond.
